Sefano Giovannoni, born in La Spezia in 1954, graduated in Architecture in Florence in 1978, he lives and works in Milan. Since 1979 he has been teaching and doing research in the Florence Faculty of Architecture, at Domus Academy in Milan and at the Università del Progetto in Reggio Emilia. He’s working as industrial designer and architect. He has collaborated with companies like Alessi, Magis, Flos, Fiat, Seiko, Siemens, Laufen, Oras, India, Henkel, Oregon Scientific, Hannster, Cedderoth, Deborah, Lavanzza, Kankio, 3m, Domodinamica, Helit, etc.

In 1991 designed the Italian Pavillon at exhibition “Les Capitales Europeennes du noveau design” at the Center George´s Pompidou.

He participates in national and international competition including:

  • “ Shinkenchiku Residential Design Competition”, Tokyo, 1981.
  • “Competition for a square at Santa Croce sull´Arno”, Florence, 1980 (first prize).
  • “Competition for restructuring of the historical center at Casteldisangro – Aquila”, 1989 (with Andrea Branzi and Remo Buti – first prize).

Some of his projects have received the “Design Plus” award at the Franfurt Fair – Ambiente 1994 and 1996, the “Forum Design Hannover” award in 1999 and have been selected at “Compasso de Oro” in 1996 and 1998. His works are part of the permanent archive of Center Georges Pompidou and of MOMA collection (New York).
